Eggshells in the Mixing Bowl (of Life)

How to deal with eggshells in your mixing bowl. I love breakfast food and, for me, omelets are at the top of that list. And as the saying goes you can’t make one without cracking a few eggs (in my case 3). I have made thousands of omelets. I’ve learned to crack eggs one-handed, even with my oppo hand. Impressive, I know. But even with all this experience I occasionally get eggshells into my mixing bowl. I used to immediately attempt to fish through the egg yolk with my fork and/or my finger to get the eggshell out, and after some time and effort I would succeed. I reconsidered this approach after watching a cooking show. An assistant dropped some eggshells in the mixing bowl and immediately went to fish it out. The chef stopped her and told her to beat the eggs with the shells still in the mix. She did and a funny thing happened; as she beat the eggs the eggshell bits stuck to the side of the bowl. She was able to pour the beaten eggs into the rest of her mixture and continue cooking without worrying about the eggshells.

In life, little annoying, inconvenient, pain-in-the-butt things happen all the time. These are mere distractions not roadblocks or obstacles to completing your task at hand. Press on. Don’t lose sight of your ultimate goal. Don’t let minor inconveniences stop your progress. Be aware of them, acknowledge them, but don’t let them stop you. The end goal is more important than stopping everything to deal with something minor that will eventually work itself out in the end.
